We regret the passing away of Former Rector of a Yaba College of Technology, Dr Olubunmi Owoso. He passed on yesterday, Sunday 28th June, 2020.
This was a man that loved and served our Alumni Association with passion. The Rector that gave the Association the pride of place within the College and beyond. It was Dr Olubunmi Owoso who so much believed in our Association to the extent of giving a parcel of land to the Association to build the Alumni Building in spite of contempt and criticisms from various quarters. He also stood by the Alumni Association during the fundraising struggle to construct the Alumni Building. He was ever ready to release vehicles and other resources for the use of the Association as and when requested.
Even after he served and left the College, Dr Olubunmi Owoso remained one of the backbones of the Association in many respects. From his base in far away Kenya, Dr Owoso was ever receptive and readily available with the impetus to be of service to the Association.
On behalf of the President, National Executive Council and entire members of Yaba College of Technology, we hereby express our shock on the unexpected demise of an illustrous and charismatic academician, courageous optimist, seasoned administrator, and the BEST FRIEND our Association has ever had.
He was not an Alumnus of the College, yet the record of his service to our Alumni Association may not be surpassed in the foreseeable future.
DR. OLUBUNMI OWOSO, MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE. Our Association shall be eternally grateful to you. We pray that God will grant your family the fortitude to bear this loss.
